This notice explains how Carleeta collects, uses and protects your personal data, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What We Collect

Depending on how you use Carleeta, we collect: your account email and name; the vehicle registrations you look up; camera and microphone recordings and photos captured during guided scans, which are uploaded to Google Cloud Storage; fault evidence you submit, such as fault codes, symptoms and media; usage telemetry about how the app performs and is used; and, if you join our waitlist, the email address you provide.

Purposes And Lawful Bases

We process your account data, registration queries, scan media and fault evidence to provide the service you have asked for — our lawful basis is performance of a contract with you. We process usage telemetry to keep the service secure, reliable and functioning correctly — our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in security and maintaining the product. We process waitlist emails to send you launch and marketing communications — our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Processors And International Transfers

We use Google Cloud, including Gemini AI, to store scan media and generate reports and inspection guidance. This may involve transfers outside the UK; those transfers are safeguarded by Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses. When you look up a vehicle, the registration is shared with vehicle-data providers — DVLA, DVSA and OneAuto — so they can return the vehicle data you have requested.

Retention

We keep your account data until you delete your account. Scan media is retained for up to 18 months. Waitlist emails are kept until our launch communications are complete or you opt out, whichever is sooner.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to data portability, and to object to certain processing. Deleting your account in the app removes your account data and the scan media you have uploaded. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@carleeta.app. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
